Who agrees with me that a book is almost completely ruined when it is turned into a movie? Take the Harry Potter's for example. Has anyone else read them?

What REALLY ticks me off, is when they make a series of books then put something in let's say the first movie that happened in the second or third or so on book. I hate it when that happens.
What I do is if I know a movie is based on a book I'll read the book first then watch the movie. There's no use blaming the scriptwriters, not everyone has the same perspective of what everything looks like and they can only do so much. Anyway, we all know for a fact the book is always better than the movie.
I agree completely. I really hate when they leave out so many details. That's what makes a book so much greater. Also, I like being able to picture how the characters look. When I see how the actors look, I am so disapointed because I forget how I thought they looked.
That's exactly what happens to me! I realize that I get lost in a book, and I don't even know what's going on around me, and I when I come back, I don't even remember what I thought they looked like. I just imagine a ball of light, sort of. But when I see characters in movies, I don't even see a ball of light anymore. I just see disappointment.

Well, since I am nosy I had to read them to see why people were lining up at bookstores. I do love how they let your imagination take over.

Sandra, I agree. I don't think any movie producer can match what our minds visualize. Good point. Are you a Harry Potter fan yourself?

No!!!!
You mean you think that they don't ruin the book? Because I can give you about ten examples as to where they left out a huge part in a movie that was crucial to the plot.

Totally agree! They ruined My Sister's Keeper by jodi Piccoult. Changed the whole ending which was the best part of the book.
Script-writers are an evil breed and they should hire someone who actually LIKES the book to write the movie!
